Each year, rather than saying what we want for Christmas, my partner and I swap Christmas cryptic clues.

I've been given two clues this year for two different gifts. I've worked out the first gift, but am stuck on the second.

The clue is:

"I am facing global cuts"

Any ideas?

You're BRILLIANT!!!

I've just checked and that is a brand! and my other half is a keen cook.

That HAS to be it.

Thanks a million - I would never have gotten that...ever

Holy crap...

Just seen the prices.

Thinking of pretending I couldn't work out the clue...
Sp...What a brilliant idea!...My family isn't going to know what's hit them..

It adds an element of surprise to Christmas, because no-one is 100% sure that the person buying the gift will get the clue right.

If it wasn't for AnswerBank, and more importantly, dannyk13, my partner would most likely end up with an battery powered electric razor (ie. you can use them 'globally' and they 'cut' your beard.
The more I'm thinking of it, Sp the more I see the potential for mistakes...
...all the more fun I think.

We have a huge extended family. For a few years we made a donation to a charity and then spent one pound on each present to be opened at our get together.......The fun trying to buy something appropriate for £1 and watching it being opened was priceless...x
Lol. Very good answer from Danny. Must be cheaper than my suggestion, surely?!

Oh yes - but I've looked up the prices of the knives, and frankly, I'm a bit horrified.

These had better be the best knives ever made.

I agree - sometimes the best presents are the ones where you've really had to use your imagination.

We do 'secret Santa' at work and the rule is no present can cost more than a tenner.

One year, I found a children's' race car set (like Scalextrix) for £9.99 and bought it for a bloke in my team who was in his late 50s at the time. He set it up on his desk at work and literally played with it all afternoon. He said it reminded him of being a kid.
pretend you thought it was a pair of nail scissors, then
