Please can anyone help me to solve the following clue, which is from a section called "Comic Cuts: the Magazines and the Characters in them" - "This comic family involved three birds and a person - but the person was also a bird". Four words and the letter count is 5, 4, 5, and 5, and I do not understand the clue at all !

Hewie, dewie, louie and uncle.
the daffy duck family by the sound of it.
I think it was Donald Duck, whose nephews were Huey, Louie and Dewie...but that still doesn't fit your letter count....

Thank you all, for your suggestions, but "Huey, Dewey and Louie" is the answer to another clue in this same "Comic Cuts" section.
Can you post a couple of Q&A's so we can get into the mind of the compiler?
