Has no one started a thread? Is it because people are a little bit disappointed with this one? Perhaps there is some clever twist that I haven't seen.

Sorry, Mullingar, it was the_heisman (previous post to yours) who enquired about 34Ac. Signal Passed at Danger was what I meant by a disastrous connection. I also have "train" included twice in solutions. Can somebody put me out of my misery by telling me whether I should or should not eliminate this "train" of thought from my enquiries? I'm on the point of giving up through sheer boredom
Give it the red light, Tarkus!

turast - i will try to distil some of the hints already given in the thread that may help - first, you need to deduce a phrase 4 3 4 that exactly describes the method for entering the across clues. for the most part this method is consistent with a much used cryptic clueing device [and the first word of this phrase is given - again much used in cryptic clueing - by the first two letters of the title.]now if you can think of a synonymous 4 3 4 phrase you should discover the two new words to which the 8 undefined downs relate.
