Spectator 1851

I can't seem to resolve this one.

10 d "Face party up in Lincoln" (5)

AB?DE

The wordplay leads to ABODE , but if the definition is 'face'

then the answer should be ABIDE.

Any help please.

I would say you are correct with 'abode'.
party up = do = od.
In Lincoln = abe
abe + od = abode.
The synonymous connection between 'face' & 'abode' must be so far removed I would not bother to research it.
All in all a very poor clue - IMHO
