No clue - you just read the letters in the shaded boxes in order so the f is definitely right

I am assuming that the second word is room but cannot find a word with the pattern ?IF? to go with it.

This is odd because the clue fits the definition of a fireroom so well. The alternative terms of stokehold and stokehole don't fit.
Is the F from cornflake already filled in? Could you have slipped up?

Maybe its the f in cornflakes that are flawed?

Pretty sure it's Fire room and a mistake was made in spelling cornflakes (cornrlakes).

But it looks as if the F was already filled in on the grid by the setter so it would have been a setter's error

hopefully Agility2 will update us once the solution is known or once the paper acknowledge's a setter's error. Sometimes though there is a more simple explanation- eg looking at wrong clue/part of grid
