20a Promote in work, though not over hospital (4) Answer seems to be PUSH (I have - U - H) but can not see any possible reason for this, from the clue. Any help? 17a Traps repairer (7) I have - E - T - S -. If it is DENTIST, must we be content that he is a repairer of 'mouths' as in 'shut your trap'. Or are 'teeth' sometimes called 'traps'? Not happ[y with these clues.

No ,I didn't like these clues
But put those answers in anyway.
Those answers are correct but I agree they are poor clues.
The parsing for push is Opus(work) minus o(ver) reversed + h(ospital)
20a. Opus = musical "work" - remove "o" (cricketing abbreviation for ‘Over’), (fits with clue = though not over) then follow with abbreviation of H(for Hospital). Promote = Push. 17a. The "traps" referred to are "mouths."
Already parsed above.
20a (o)push
opus = work
o = over

ah, returned to the thread after my lunch and made the classic mistake of not scrolling :-)

We all forget that AEL.:-)
