When I travelled up to Stoke last week, on the Virgin train, there was free wi-fi available. I connected to The Virgin WI-Fi and it said connected. However, when I then tried to use the internet it said 'No internet connection, check Wi-Fi connection'.

Ikept checking Wi-Fi connections and it continued to tell me it was connected......!

I could not get it to work properly. Does anyone know why, or what happened?'

SD here - not gness !!

My memory says that you have to use a browser (chrome, safari, whatever) first on Virgin wifi, before any other app, so that they can harvest your email for future offers.

Thanks Dave, I didn't know that.
So, I connect to Virgin Wi-Fi, then load Chrome, and then it should work?

Is that correct?
Yes - I think that's how it used to work for me

When you open the browser you should see a Virgin page that you have to either fill in information such as email address or click an 'I accept the terms' box before it will allow you to access the internet

Thanks again, Dave. I'll try it again, when I next use the train.

Thanks to you too, Hc. I just gave up.

Maybe I should have asked one of the personnel on the train.
That'll be when you and Gness go bowling. ....unsureme has polished his woods...that's worrying...... :-(

I can polish my bowls as well. Anyone can polish their bowls.

Where have we got to go for this match? Will I be able to use Virgin Trains?
A lot of free Wi-Fi networks require you to sign in through a browser, even if there is no password needed.

To be honest, Taichi, I didn't expect my browser to work and I didn't even try. I'll remember next time.
I assume you travel first class? virgin Wi-Fi isn't free otherwise.
