I can't say I'm totally enamoured with JEAN. "Je" is not gender dependant, and Frenchman is traditionally "M"......????
The word is pronounced differently in France and England.
Jean in French is pronounced like Jon and in English Jean is Jeen.
jean can be either a christian name for a frenchman or an englishwoman

Ah! I was reading JEAN as JE + AN (ANNE) pronounced difference
