The Chase Today

I'd be interested to read opinions on the choice of taking the minus offer today made by the young man who failed to score in the cash builder round.
To my way of thinking the 0 option would have been the choice as a team player as they have now only gained an extra step forward for the loss of £2000. Not many low scoring teams have won against The Beast anyway let alone by 1 point.

Watched this today the young contestant taking the minus was pathetic he wasn't very bright for all the attributes he had maths etc he should have went high and went out wasn't a great asset in the final Mark made a remark on an earlier show about young people not knowing much!

I think the pressure of the cash builder round can make people go blank.

It does make me wonder why some people even enter the show as it's very unfair when the other three contestants have earned all the cash builder and then often have to split winnings with a guy like this who has contributed zero.

I agree that getting back gave the team an extra point dannyk but to my way of thinking the contribution he appeared capable of making in the final didn't warrant the loss of £2000 earned by contestants who had earned in the cash builder.
I can't get my head around how anyone can take the minus offer - I know it's in the rules and I know the reason for it but somehow it rankles with me. Probably cos I'm a grumpy old bat!

They hardly 'earn' the money. They answer some questions and get a chance to 'win' money for what is probably a really good day out.

I think that they should do away with a lower offer, and also change the rules so that, in the event of a team winning, each member would win the amount he brought to the final.

It annoys me when someone takes the minus offer.
Ok, the team get an extra point in the final chase, but that person usually wants to justify his presence by leaping in with the buzzer, and then giving a wrong answer, or worse passing, when they should wait for someone else who probably knows the answer.

But that's not the show they applied to be on.

Sometimes the people who don't get much in then cash builder can be the asset in the final chase.

Was merely using a term often heard on the show ummmm when I said 'money they earned' - surprising, I am aware that there is the potential to win money for answering a few questions.

I know. I was more referring to the term they use on the show.

I just look at the TV and think 'you didn't bloody earn it'

Have to be fair ummmm and wonder just how I'd fair answering questions on TV - did do a sort of quiz in front of an audience many, many years ago and didn't come off too badly but nowadays?........not sure at all - would probably make a right plonker of myself.

I wouldn't be able to do it. Putting me in the spotlight turns me completely dumb.

One time I was doing a judo exam and I passed the physical with flying colours. Then they started asking me questions....and I couldn't answer. They sent one of the examiners down to sit with me so I could whisper the answers to him.

That's why I always feel for the people that don't do well.

Put me under pressure and I can be rendered speechless. Put under threat and I turn into a Banshee :-D
