Thank you
Thanks Jackdaw. Is the wordplay for 1 then SO and POP and ERAS? If so where did the A come from?
Sorry for 3 (they are numbered other way round)
FF. pop-(father) + era(time) inside so as (provided)
Thanks. I also could see how provided could be so, and now I'm wondering why provided = so as. Maybe an example sentence wher they are interchangeable would clarify it for me
I can see provided that -' as long as' as 'so long as' but not just 'so as'
Sorry- keyboard is missing bits out on here

I also could NOT see how provided could be 'so', and now I'm wondering why provided = so as. Maybe an example sentence where they are interchangeable would clarify it for me. I can see provided that -' as long as' as 'so long as' but not just 'so as'
In phrases such as so as to provide something
Sorry, I don't get that and the clue says provided that but I'll leave it thanks as I'm clearly not on the same wavelength as everyone else here today
think I'm on your wavelength FF
Thanks. I think I gave up looking once I go to 25b after 30 minutes.
I must be too young to know it a sit says 'older use'. I'd always say 'so long as' to mean 'provided that' but clearly 'so as' has been used in the past
