Can anyone please explain why the 3 answers: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger all have 'graduate' in the clue as the definition?

Something to do with Hogwarts?

I think it must be, Jo. Never seen the films or read the books, and wondered if it might be something to do with today's date, maybe, the date of their graduation? PHI's clues are usually clearer than that - enjoy doing his puzzles first thing on a Saturday, and have 2 radios to show for it!
Mamya says yes ^ :)

You've never seen a Harry Potter film?!

Congrats on winning the radios, though.
It's all I can see to be fair, there may be more to it - difficult without the full puzzle.

Well done Brainiac.

There are many, many well-known films I haven't seen - not been to the cinema since 1998! Much prefer opera and theatre. Did you find The Times cryptic difficult today? I was out most of the day and have been fiddling about with it most of the evening, but still unfinished. Have a sneaking suspicion it might have been set by the beastly Dean Mayer!
I did find it difficult today..is it DM's turn tomorrow?

Have stopped buying The Sunday Times, as was spending way too much on newspapers. I have won the silver Cross Fountain pen, though!
Noooooooo..I only have the ballpoint :((((((

Actually, you, Mamyalynne and Buenchico should get some sort of 'Best Contributor' award for all the good-natured help you give on here
That's very kind, I get pleasure from helping and I learn new things every day - a win win for me.
