8D was a bit naughty., perhaps?
Question Author
Sanhedrin? Very bold
Yes, but is there an error in the clue for 8d?

Unless I've missed an obvious parse, if it read "...and then head off" it would make more sense to me.

For those without the puzzle, the clue (on my copy, at least) is -

8d Council fix drains and head off (9) S?N?E?R?N

Very pleased if you or anyone can enlighten me :-)
Sorry, posted without refreshing the screen - no, still in the dark here...
An alert solver suggested in the discussion that the clue was missing a word and should have read:

6D Council fix drains and THEN head off (9)
Ta v_e, as I suggested ^^^ - sorry, "discussion"? I've missed a thread, methinks.
And head off? (a)
Question Author
I got it from the anagram for drains and H(eads).
I was referring to the discussion of the crossword on the Times Crossword site, Lie-in King.
I think LIK and the other solver have it- 'fix' Drains and (t)hen.
But that leaves 'N,E' unaccounted for
I mean drains/(t)hen
v_e - ah-ha, thank you :-)

Sorry, crossed again, my last post was for Meta...
