About 1730 tonight I had to take Kim, our Dobie *** (Female Dog) to the Vet to be PTS. She was diagnosed with an illness some time ago and went downhill very quickly from Thursday of last week through the weekend. She was a Rescue, we got her in mid 2008 when she was about 2½ years old, so we had her for about 7 years, and she made it to 9½ - 10 years so far as we know.
She settled in very quickly and very well with us and Eddy, the big fellow in my Avatars who's a year older, never had any problems, she walked in, said 'Righto I'm the Boss' and it was sorted! Based on our experience with her I would suggest anyone wanting a Dog has a serious look at their local Rescues, she was one of the nicest Dogs we've ever had. Those who know me will realise that both my Wife and myself are absolutely gutted.

Accept the sincerest condolences of a fellow dog lover.

Really sorry, baldric xx heartbreaking xx
So sorry to hear this. She is not suffering any more. Maybe in time you will give a good loving home to another rescue dog but for the time being you will have fond memories that will always be with you. RIP Kim.
Sorry to hear that. You've given her 7 good years.
Condolences from me, Baldric.
Very sad ,they really do steal our hearts. Take care both.
Oh Baldric, I am so sorry. I can only say I know how you feel xxx
Oh hell bald We got a 12yr old fem dog. Love her although she is crackers Blue Merl Bearded Collie cross. We know the time could come, but pay the vet anyway. She has no pain byw. Just gets a bit slower bit by bit.' She who must be obeyed' would be distraught. Sorry for you. But remember her best times were with you and yours. Karma.
And me, Baldric. Losing an animal is always gutwrenching. Try to console yourself that you gave her a good life.
So sorry to read this Baldric.
Thinking of you both.

Sorry to post back quickly. Eddie is going to miss her as much as you.

Thanks Guys , it helps, it really does, I'm going to take Eddy for a walk now and might just do a little damage to a bottle of gin when we come back. If not back tonight will catch up tomorrow. Thanks again.
so sorry for your loss Baldric, it never gets any easier.
Oh Baldric I'm so sorry, she sounds a smashing (not so) little character. She knew she was loved for all those years and so many dogs don't have that. Cuddle Eddy tonight as I expect he'll be missing her as well. They break our hearts but we dog lovers wouldn't be without them. Bless her.
She was a good age for a big dog but that won't lessen the pain for you, your wife and Eddy.

People who have never loved and been loved by a nonhuman friend will never fully understand how powerful the bond is. To you she was a friend who just happened to be a dog.

Best wishes to Eddy, he is going to be lost too.

XXXX for Eddy
