thanks very much for that - was pretty sure it was an anagram but just could not get it!

That now makes 22 down ?N?S?E and after going though Chambers the best I can come up with is En(IN)ISLE which makes no sense whatsoever!
what's the clue for 22d?

I an presuming that SANS covers the reference to without and French and that a candle was illuminating but where does the rest of it fit in Rosslyn?
