Have recently had a cataract removed, and have ,been unable to sleep is there any connection

Nervousness. The experience on your mind maybe ?
If you had had a recent operation under local anaesthesia, then i cannot think of a direct connection, however if it was recently done under general anaesthesia, then there may well be a direct connection.

agree with Jordyboy, and mine were under general anaesthetic. It's always possible, as Sqad says. But you might want to think about other possibilities - what's keeping you from falling asleep, what you're doing, what you're thinking about.
Same as jordy under local anaesthetic Are you wearing your eye patch sg? I felt safer wearing it
I had a big operation last month and while inhospitalI slept fitfully but when I got home I didn't sleep at all for a full week. I honestly though I would never sleep again it got so long!!!

However after the week I soaked out for a couple of nights and a now back to my normal sleeping pattern.
