I really do not like the celebrity endorsement kind of electioneering. It seems to be an admission that the issues are dull or the policies are drab and do not hold up to scrutiny.

Quite often the 'celeb' will put off as many people as it will attrack. In the case of Eddie Izzard, my guess would be he is well liked by most of the public despite the cross dressing.

labour tried the "lots of minorities make a majority" tactic in the 1980s. it didn't work then, any more than it's likely to work this time.
