I realise this is probably a silly question but can anyone tell me how crosswords etc are judged nowadays? From today there are now three ways to enter the MOS GK crossword and they state that the winner will be selected from all I SPY correct answers. Are we seriously expected to believe that someone opens all the envelopes when an email is quicker to open.
Sometimes there are 5 ways - post, text, phone, website or email. If this has been discussed before please tell me how to look it up. Thank you
In the days when it was just postal entries I'm certain they didn't check through over 100000 envelopes every week - they'd just open a handful and check them until they'd found enough correct ones.
I'm not sure how they do it with multiple entry methods- maybe they pick a set number of each or maybe they have a random selection method. I suspect postal entries get less priority as they are a pain-maybe they go straight in the recycling bin - but I have no evidence
^ i mean postal entries are a pain for the newspaper/magazine. Why would they want all that paper to have to handle and dispose of- and unlike texts there's no extra money in handling them.
I can see why some readers like postal entries but it's very expensive now
Disappointed no one seemed able to help. When we had the lovely slogan and other commercial comps they were regulated by the gambling laws. Does that no apply anymore??
