She's not on benefits so I don't really care, but I do think £50k is not a good salary for an MP.
If she can earn more from reality shows then why not? The more money she earns, the more tax she pays, the more she spends the more VAT she pays.

I can't see an issue with it tbh.

Tbh I thought MP's got payed more than that.
And she's being advised not to do it. She hasn't actually said that 50k isn't enough. This is all down to her agent.
Question Author
Oh well, she could always stand for parliament if / when the bubble bursts.
I thought they got 67k?
So did I, Talbot. Maybe the 50k is because she's standing as an independent MP?
plus expenses !

http://www.parliament.uk/about/mps-and-lords/members/pay-mps/

"The basic annual salary for an MP from 1 April 2014 is £67,060. MPs also receive expenses to cover the costs of running an office, employing staff, having somewhere to live in London and in their constituency, and travelling between Parliament and their constituency. "

dont worry is she does go for it, she'll be aware of all the wheezes and scams to milk the sytem...
As she seems to care more about the money and not about the constituents...........I think she has everything required to be an MP.
She's not a benefits claimer as a career choice. She stole from her employer, for whatever reason, which made her unemployable.

I like her.
you can stick another quarter of a million quid on top of the basic then baz
I'm thinking her criminal record may be a bar to her standing as MP. I'm sure she had a suspended prison sentence.
"If she became an MP she might not be able to speak her mind."
She knows politics? Doesn't even know what an MP's salary is although neither does the paper by the look of it
She's correct, that's is one reason we do get a lot of idiot MPs the salary is too small. Pay peanuts get monkeys!
MPs generally DO speak their mind. Especially independent ones. if ever God help us she was elected.
And she was only several thousand out on the salary

No doubt you therefore support higher pay for MPs, forthwith. So intellectuals like her will be attracted into politics :-)
they should double their salary and halve their number.
Which leads of course to even less representation than we have now. Fine if you see democracy as just an item on the debit side of the ledger but perhaps not great otherwise
'she stole from her employer for whatever reason''.....er because she's dishonest?

How about raise the salary and stop the ludicrous freebies?

Just give the ones who live furthest from London a pro rata living/travel allowance.
Yes, retro, clearly a thief is dishonest but people have different reasons for doing it. I can't remember but I thought the theft had something to do with her partner.
