I will be marching in London at the Cenotaph tomorrow. The clip below is my tribute to 1519 men lost on HM Ships Glorious, Ardent and Acasta. This was the largest loss of life in any single Royal Navy engagement in WW2. The admiralty files on this action were closed for 100 years. Our association will remember all these men, but also everyone who died in the service of their country. I doubt you will see us marching as we are near the back of the parade. And I've no doubt the BBC will spoil the broadcast by having Sophie Raworth interviewing Brigadier Wotsit and Rear Admiral so and so as the main event passes by in the background. But the main thing is that we remember all the brave men. RIP.

I agree, the BBC seem to forget most of the people are there by choice to remember comrades and relatives. We want to see all of them marching past the cenotaph, not high ranking officers being interviewed.
I hope the day is a success for you. Well done and well remembered.

On this subject - I wonder how many people observe the silence at 11.00 if they are at home. We always make a point of stopping what we are doing and put the TV on and observe it. Are we in the minority?
I don't think so Margo.

I'll be at work, but we always switch off the store radio and stop serving at 11 in remembrance.
Your posh Margot. You got a tellie ? I swear on a still day with the wind in the right direction I could sometimes hear the faint boom of the Royal Horse Artillery,Kings troop's gun salute in Hyde Park.
Boo - well that's good to know. I wonder how many shops do that.
Margot
Listen to Terry Kelly singing "Just a pittance of time" with accompanying video in a Canadian supermarket. It's on youtube. Good lyrics and message.xx
Retro - not posh (only on the telephone) have you been to see the poppies at the tower?
lovely post clarion, thanks. best wishes tomorrow x
We observe the silence on 11th at 11am but not necessarily on Sunday.
Unless we are lucky enough to be watching the coverage on the BBC. Ahce a good day 10Clarion
Maydup - your post is 11 of 11 at 16.11 how apt.
10clarion - I wish you all the best for tomorrow and hope the rain hold off.
According to the weather forecast that I saw earlier it should be a dry day tomorrow, best of luck 10ClarionSt.

Really glad to hear that you had a good day and that the weather held out. We watched it in the TV and as always found it very moving. First time I have ever heard the Queen clapped as she went back in.
