Hello all.
I'm looking to buy a tablet in the near future. My first one.
I want to use it for general internet browsing, games, facebook etc and leave the work side of stuff on my laptop.
I went into my local department store and was amazed by the choices that there are. I had no idea where to start and the chap in charge of the apple stand was most narked that I didn't know much about the ipad and was getting quite angry. That put me off a little and I left after a few choice words.
Which ones should I look at?
My technology head is not that large so anything thats easy to use is a bonus.
The ones that caught my eye were ipad mini, nexus 7. Are these old models? Not looking to spend a fortune :-)
TIA

The iPad Mini has just been updated (Touch ID) so the 1st and 2nd generation iPads are a bargain. The Nexus 7 is a different operating system but a big favourite.
Nexus 7... it will do the same job as the iPad mini...for a far more reasonable price. I've had mine( the original 2012 version) for 18 months and I still love it.
The Nexus 7 gets great ratings and reviews and is much cheaper than any iPad.

Thanks guys, I know this is probably a daft question, but do they work similarly to a laptop? I've never used one before.
Similar, as the Nexus 7 runs on Chrome web browser and the iPad Mini uses the Safari browser and all things Apple.
"If your not looking to spend a fortune" and you can find a Nexus 7 for under £200 grab it, cos the later Nexus 7 is £239, the same price as the iPad Mini 2, both 16GB.

Nexus 7 it is then. Thanks guys!
The new Nexus 7 is the 2013 model and the 16GB version is £181 at Amazon; the 32GB £199, also Amazon.
Go into an Apple Store and see what they have to offer. 3 years ago I was looking for something new and ended up spending money on an ipad2. I also thought that I would only use it for browsing, emails etc & my laptop would be for my business. 3 years on I probably haven't used my laptop more than a dozen times. I just learnt how to use my iPad which is really simple and do everything from it including all my accounts and anything to do with my business. It was worth the investment.
Why not get a Hudl 2 from Tesco, you can get it for about £129. Even less if you have a Tesco card with point on it.

This has just come out and has been well received and has a larger screen than the Hudl 1.

You really don't need to pay the prices Apple charge to get a tablet.
I had a Nexus 7 until it was pinched so I replaced it with an iPad mini with the insurance.

I like them both about as much. either will do a great job.
