Ched looked priddy glum when he came out of the slammer

There are some good crimes - like failing to pay your taxes and really BAAAAD ones like rape.

Oh and I doubt even if he is axquitted on appeal that he will get his very large costs
thx ZM - this para is significant

The news is likely to trouble rape survivor support groups. “We’re concerned that survivors’ voices and feelings [should] not be lost or overlooked in the furore surrounding one high-profile rapist’s release,” Rape Crisis England and Wales said on its website. Campaigners at Everyday Victim Blaming (EVB) said in a statement, also issued before it emerged that Evans’s case was being fast-tracked, that “rehabilitation requires remorse, taking responsibility for the crime committed and clear evidence that the prisoner is undertaking steps to atone”.

This is a little strange also:
"Evans’s girlfriend, Natasha Massey, and her father, the multimillionaire Karl Massey, are spearheading the campaign to have his conviction overturned."

Peter Pendant. How can you show remorse IF you did Nothing wrong ,Please Read the Details.Surely any women's groups would see this IF it is UNSAFE do they feel better IF we admit to GUILT even if we did nothing wrong.
For all that, his conviction hasn't been overturned yet, nor is there any reason to believe that it will be. There's just been an appeal lodged, and it's being fast-tracked, for somewhat bizarre reasons. Since he has always maintained his innocence I'm not too surprised that there's been such an appeal made -- but there is, as yet, no indication that it will succeed.
Nor one that it will fail.
All we do know is that the Court of Appeal upheld the original decision.
True, but now the presumption is of guilt since he's been convicted already, so naturally his supporters would be more likely to get excited by this. It's worth tempering such excitement. People appeal all the time, whether they are guilty or not, and such appeals more often than not fail.
The Sports Minister stated that he needs to show remorse before he can return to the game but in the circumstances, he isn't going to is he whilst the current review is being carried out, so not sure how helpful the Minister's comments are. Mind you, Evans believes he is 100% innocent anyway...

I agree - ( with you ) I thought the juxtaposition of a pressure group saying: 'send him down still/again/for a bit more ' was worthy of remark

I also consider it worth of comment of the strong feeling
of "lets punish him some more for such a disgusting crime" should be set against another 0f ''oops sorry we dont think he did it''

You/one dont get remission if you say you havent done it

The longest lifer is ex-Dr Vickers who wont accept he poiosoned his wife with cis-platinum in 1976 or thereabouts and is till inside.....
You sure about that, Peter?

If the prisoner has a fixed term (determinate) sentence
A prisoner serving a determinate sentence is normally released automatically halfway through their sentence.

If their sentence is 12 months or more, they will be released on probation.

A Parole Board is not involved.

it's a conundrum: how can you show remorse if you believe you're innocent?

AG CHristie I think I am correct in saying that it was an EX Sports Minister and it is nothing to do with him it is up to the Football League and they have said that they cannot stop any player from plying his trade.
-- answer removed --
Jordy...you also thought Rolf Harris was innocent, even after conviction...
Of course a jury can have got it wrong. The usual rule of thumb ought to be that those who listened to the case in details for several days probably are more likely to have got it right than people who have just glanced at the case in a paper/ website, though...

JIM360 I would say that most "People" who have voiced an opinion on Social Media have no idea what or who they are talking about, they are just jumping on the bandwagon ,I will say again if people read the transcript of the case they will wonder as I do how the hell one guy is found NOT guilty and the other Guilty BOTH for having sex with a girl who consented at the same time Not literally but you get my drift.
I do not know this guy of am I a supporter of his Club ,But this is a very dangerous situation for ALL men.

If the case IS overturned I can already hear the cries of His Girlfriends Father is a Multi Millionaire.
ther's some suggestion, from the Evans camp, that the review is being carried out on the grounds of new evidence, so it mightn't be necessary to show the jury got it wrong on the basis of the evidence they did hear.

But we'll see
