House Spiders

Do those big brown spiders that we find in the house at this time of year spin webs or do they just lurk in corners waiting to scare us? If they do spin webs the one created by the spider on my wall this morning must be of gigantic proportions - Jurassic Park size.

I reckon they must spin. They have to feed.
But it's possible some have merely evolved to scare you.

The spiders in my house at the moment are there PURELY to scare the living daylights out of me. They are the size of Alsatians !

Apparently spiders are larger this year due to the warmer weather and an abundance of food.

I heard them discussing this on QI once and I think they said their main intention at this time of year indoors was to breed,I wish they would get on with it somewhere else,other than lurking about in unexpected or out of reach places!

As one of life’s inveterate adrenaline junkies nothing scares me. Er, except spiders. I had one of these beasts turn up on the bedroom floor as I walked in on Friday. How do these spiders manage to stand there motionless, staring at you with an expression that says “Going somewhere, are we?”

I keep seeing them by the side of my eye but the dog attacks them which is good for me.

They fall in vakayu, Then find it difficult to get out.
Leave a towel over the edge and they can use that to climb out.

I've heard that you can prevent Spiders taking over your house if you put conkers in the corner of the rooms.

Any truth in this or is it an Old Wives Tale?
