Forehand (Budge was a tennis player)
"Budge" is the anagram pointer of "had f(ine) one" and "one back in thirty-four" means the last letter of the word "thirty-four". So find an anagram of "had+f+one+r" gives "forehand" of which Donald Budge had a good one back in the 1930s.
