Hi all, new here and relatively new to Cryptic crosswords but I do anjoy a challenge!
Struggling to get much of a start on todays i cryptic, any help available for;

7a) small animal showing advantage and power burrowing into most of grave. 8 letters

I want it to be ravenous, but not entirely sure why apart from rave (most of grave)

8d) The modern world? Drop everything to apprehend most of dreadful period (6-7)

Do you mean the second word ?

You say 7 letters in your original post, but show 6

ALso, could you possibly use ? for blanks rather than _ ? It's easier to see. (old eyes) :-))

Thanks folks. I've got a good few now but mostly at the bottom - had nothing in the top left corner so I'll chip away at that now.
Sorry for the mistake in 6/7 letters - and _ _'s instead of ?'s, I'm new here.
