Seems to be my turn to start one. Indeed this has been a massive effort, though not entirely fruitless. The hardest so far this year (but that isn't saying much, is it?) We still have some short words to complete, even with the theme and quotation discovered. What a challenge, Hypnos!

My first pass through the clues yielded just two answers. Somewhere near to halfway now, but a simple preamble is masking a greater struggle.

I've filled three quarters of the grid but I'm stuck on the bottom left even though I've got the quotation. Quite hard going.
