where did the saying "tap 'ole" originate

As long ago as the 1500s, a tap-hole was the hole made in a wooden cask or vat for the tap to be inserted into so as to draw the beer/ale. Presumably, the 'ole instead of hole variant was a Cockney h-dropping!
