Blackadder joke

George: Well, I thought one or two cheeky gags, one followed by 'She was only the ironmonger's daughter but she knew a surprising amount about fish as well'.

Just wanted to know if anyone could tell me why this joke is funny. I don't get it!! Thankyou

i think along with quizmonsters excellent reply, you also must remember that george in blackadder is a bumbling idiot. the fact the joke didn�t make sense IS the joke.

George: 'My head... oh, my head... feels like the time I was initiated into the Silly Bu$$ers Society at Cambridge. I misheard the rules and tried to push a whole aubergine up my earhole.'
