Surely the Catalans wouldn't call the islands the Balearics in their language, so why are folk saying what the non-English pronunciation is? I say balee ariks....
bal-air-icks
the catalans do call them the balearics, they just pronounce it different than we do!!
See my post above re "Las Islas Balearicas" (Spanish). In Catalan/Mallorquin they're called "Les Illes Balears"
Narolines and belasaha from what I can see, the islands are called Les Illes Balears in Catalan and Las Islas Baleares in Castilian.......

must be a dialect then because my spanish family pronounce it the way i told u

Corby, I have consulted three English/Spanish dictionaries, and one gives "Balearicas" while the other two give "Baleares"! I guess you pays your money and you takes your choice - though "Baleares" seems to have the vote at the moment! At lease we agree on the Catalan.........:-)
....."At least"........ damned Italian red wine!
A lot of Ballearics being talked tonight
bally airicks
