Can anyone tell me who i can complain to about a pet insurance company? My dog was attacked by another dog on the 30th March 2016, she was treated at the vets and May 11th 2016 she was given the all clear so we gave the insurance claims forms to the vet to fill in their part and send it off. Of course it came back to us as we had put the wrong date on. It was sent back and been awaiting assessment since May and I think this is totally unacceptable. I have phoned several times but we get the same old chestnut story "we have a backlog of claims" Its cost me £462 in vets fees and i wish to pay back those who helped me pay the upfront cost and i receive the amount back less any excess. Is there a Ombudsman I can write too about such time wasting? They are dam quick to take the payments when its suits them, but when it comes to paying out its a different story.

What about seeking the costs back from the owners of the other dog?
You will need to go through the official complaints procedure first. Write or email them saying you want them to record it as a complaint and tell them what you want them to do- eg settle it by 5th August- or you will go to teh Ombudsman
I think the idea is the insurance company does that but in my experience the insurance company will find it hard to recover from an individual owner who will just deny responsibility- say the other dog attacked his
Sorry, that was in response to Murraymints
