I was sat on Blackpool Prom this evening when this chap sat beside me, after a couple of minutes his phone rang he muttered will they not let me retire. He then got in conversation with the person on the phone, saying you know I have finished, but the person was insistant and wanted to give him a name and number he said it is no good I do not have a pen or paper to write it all down. So me being a good citizen ( and nosey) offered him a pen and paper, so he wrote the number down. He then rang the lady and he said I am the elusive Phillip Carter I guess you want me to do some more Ultimate IQ Test material he said I have retired but I may have some stuff at home, I will get back to you he then gave me back the pen and we chatted for a while a really nice man he was like me just having a Monday to Friday break. It was not untill I got back to Hotel and googled this man that I realised the amount of stuff he has done. Anyone know where he comes from is he a Lancashire man he spoke fondly of Blackpool.

Thanks for that link Mamyalynne a really nice chap we had a nice 10min chat said he worked as a engineer then this IQ thing was a hobby that just blossomed he said I am happy just to let the royalties keep rolling in.
Isn't it lovely when you take notice of the people around you, Mick...and then meet someone like this.....x
your lucky I would have liked to chatted to this man. Once my late hubby an I were in Malta, an elderly man in shorts knocked on our hotel room door and asked would it be possibly for him to look out of our balcony on to the harbour, we said of course and he had a drink with us, I was here during the war you see in the RAF he said but nothing else about himself, we later much later realised he had written books about the Malta siege and the brave citizens and about his war time RAF experiences but at the time we did not have a clue.
as in

I am retired unless you want to send me a royalty cheque

nice work if you can get it ....
He does sound a great man to have met Mick, glad I found a little about him for you.

I agree gness I am one who will strike up a conversation with someone but only if I feel they will be comfortable with it, mrs mm says it will get me in trouble one day but in my 70th year I have met more friendly folk than any trouble, I find the best people to chat to are ones with a dog being a dog lover myself.
A man after my own heart, Mick.....and isn't it great..... I'm a chatterer and I've had some lovely meetings just from a smile and a hello....☺

Another one gness mrs mm and I were in a night club in Liverpool a few acts I had never heard of but the 60s in liverpool always a good night, so of I go to the gents and in came King Size Taylor, of King Size Taylor and the Dominos, they toured Hamburg with the Beatles so we stood next to each other doing what guys do in the gents, he asked if I was enjoying the show, he then signed the back of a photo of mrs mm and I, and has he was leaving we shook hands (after he had washed them) the just before going out he said I have just thought of something, I said yes he said this is the honest truth but the last person I shook hands with was this afternoon and that was John Lennon. Is that a pinch of salt job ? Don't know but I think he was telling the truth.
mick, interesting meeting,,, I thought you were going to say a fellow Aber, :)
And why wouldn't he be telling the truth, Mick.....I did love John Lennon....
Are you Liverpudlian....do you live there now?

I have some lovely friends from Liverpool....one has just sold her house after a long time because it was on the Beatles Bus Tour route and near Paul's house and that seemed to put folk off.

Another friend's claim to fame is she has been in Paul's bedroom when she was a teenager...but he wasn't there.
It was in the 60s and she took a birthday present to him.....his Mum showed her into his bedroom to leave the present.....☺
