Have been using above. It has a top oven - fan assisted
bottom is always - fan assisted and also can be switched to conventional.

I am happy with above BUT

Top cooking when I turn rings to my highest number ie 6 and I want them to stay at 6 for quick cooking - cooker cools down and it fairly stresses me out.

When I read the manual it does say there is a cut-out temperature thingmabob for this therefore cooling the rings up and down. If got a qualified electrician could I get this cut-out temperature taken out completely but if not I may think of a new cooker. It took about 1 hour to do 3 rashers of bacon in - up high then down low -then up high. Thanks for any advice.

PS I want to be able to control the rings from no 1 - 6 highest.
I had a similar problem with my previous double oven, the smaller oven also incorporated a grill element. The thermostat used to cut the grill element off so it never stayed at its maximum temperature, impossible to grill anything.
I got in touch with the manufacturer (could have been an electrician, it's a long time ago) who came out and said the thermostat was faulty and changed it. No further problems, grill stayed on full unless I turned it down myself using the grill control knob.

thanks ethan but what was the time length of you owning the cooker and the guy coming out.
I'm not sure I understand this. So when you use the rings the cooker temp goes down?
It was quite a long time, as I thought at first that's how it was supposed to work. It was only when my sister commented on it that I realised there was probably a fault. It could have been as long as you but I'm really not sure.
If I was you I'd get in touch with the manufacturer first and see what they have to say, it's only two years old and should be covered under warranty I would have thought. If not, but there's still a fault, then you can decide if you want to pay to get it fixed.

No, Ummmm - the rings go down (annoyingly so)
I don't know much about these things, but an hour to cook 3 rashers or bacon is a bit much!
Sounds like a failed thermostat.
I hope it's under warranty.
What is the make and model of your cooker?

Are you trying to fry your bacon in a pan on the hob or are you trying to grill it?

If you are trying to grill it are you closing the door to the grill?
Question Author
I am frying it on the hob - the hob lights bob up and down all the time but my neighbour reassured me and says it has happens to her and she even showed me just an hour ago. Having said - her hob deffo would stay on much long then reduce for seconds then up again. I am happy with everything else. It was expensive two years at about £550. Zanussi.
Question Author
Yes I do close when grilling - as I say the ovens are fine.
My grill cuts out if I shut the door.
Question Author
My manual tells me to shut the door hence a lot of condensation on the bloody door. I don't grill much anyway.
Conne, what you are describing certainly isn't right. If you can tell us what the actual model is then we, or you, could Google to see if others have had the same problem with your model.
