A nice cup of tea. If you like tea, which I don't.
It's 'a nice cup of tea', as featured in the song.

Thanks very much indeed for that, mamyalynne! Oh, it takes me back, it really does!
A gorgeous Liverpool lass she was, love the way she swings from a cut glass accent to a broad northern one.
In this instance "cup of tea" is considered as a single entity, so the adjective precedes the whole of it. Although this is impossible in some languages, it is extremely common in English. cf "a cheap bed and breakfast", "a scary book of stories", etc.
Yes, well explained Mark.
Question Author
mamyalynne loved that, but was her nice cup of tea from a nice cup
I think a nice cup makes a difference
If you are in need of a brew then it will taste good in a tin mug.
...as does a nice teapot and nice tea leaves (not tea bags).
I hope you are not teasing and have in mind something like this:-

Ron.
Why is the first cup of tea of the day always the nicest? Is it psychological?
Probably for the same reason that the first cigarette is the nicest.
Rather have coffee!
Question Author
a nice cup, teapot, leaves, does make a difference
I have the coffee with a cigarette.

Ron.
Bleah, I don't like tea or coffee, and certainly not cigarettes :-(
^ but, each to their own :-)
Breakfast, coffee and a ciggy.

So wrong, sorry!
