What is the meaning of "got Forrest in the deal" in the following sentences?

They met in detox, she for booze, Forrest for an entire menu of banned substances. At the time she weighed ninety-eight pounds and claimed she'd lived on nothing but vodka for most of her adult life. She kicked it, walked away clean, tripled her body weight, and somehow got Forrest in the deal too.

It's a snappy and somewhat American way of saying that she got her man.  They met at the rehabilitation clinic, each of them there for different things.  She stopped being an addict, got bigger and somehow - you know how women can - got the bloke called Forrest as well when she left the rehab. place. He was part of her changed life - her 'deal'.

That is how I read it, anyway!  I hope you get some more confirmations/views.

yes, it means 'as well', 'also'. It's as if you buy a lot of goods and the shopkeeper gives you something extra for free because you're such a good customer.
