Should it be Meters or Metres?

I'm trying to type a letter, if I type '1 meter' it looks wrong, if I type '1 metre' it still looks wrong. which is right when talking about length? Is it different if it is a plural? Can someone help me please?

Where are you? Everywhere other than in the USA it's spelled METRES. There they spell it meter.
In the Uk ...

"meter" is pace

"metre" is a unit of distance
Yep SJ is right, the length is metre or metres plural.
Meter means like, the Electric Meter which measure how much eletric you are using.

if it is length, it is, the carpet measured either one metre, or two metres.
