Larger than life and twice as ugly.
Actually, now I think about it it's 'thick as sh*t and twice as useless', think I'll agree maidup on the question.
Large as life and twice as ugly. The AB evening motto.
So.... that means it wasn't the answer; so it must have been a reference ?
This phrase appears in "Alice Through the Looking Glass" by Lewis Carroll, in the chapter about the Lion and the Unicorn.
The Unicorn sees Alice and asks "What is this?". "This is a child!' Haigha replied ... "It's as large as life, and twice as natural!"
"As large as life and quite as natural" was an expression known in Lewis' time; he apparently adapted it for humourous effect.
I should have added that, since Lewis' time, the expression has been further adapted, substituting "ugly" for "natural", a jokey insult.
So, mrspite, you're not coming back to acknowledge time and effort spent answering your question.
