Hello,

I'm a diabetic. When I was diagnosed, the GP said I'd probably had it for years.

My sex drive was fine until I started taking Insulin. Now, it's gone.

If I stop taking my insulin, I get the usual tiredness & thirsts but my sex drive comes back.

Anyone else experienced similar or can give me some advice?

Thanks,

Jooster

Most importantly, you should discuss this with your diabetic care provider as skipping insulin is a bad thing. The potential effects are extremely unpleasant.

I am insulin dependant, and read reasonably widly but have not heard of a direct connection between insulin and sex drive (diabetes and inpotence is another issue, you clearly are not impotent!). However, high blood sugar can often lead to a lack of sex drive, so this is an unusual situation

It is possible that it is the type of insulin that you are using that is the issue. There are a number of different types (e.g synthetic, pig) and different profiles with the type, so maybe some experimentation may help.
