.......can make you so proud.....

I worked in a school that wasn't in the "best" area of town......lots of problems and not very well off folk......we were lucky though in that we had a head who saw the best in each child and a staff who all loved their work.....

Today....along with about a dozen or so retired staff.....I attended the funeral of one of our pupils.....a lovely lad of twenty four killed in a road accident.......

His mum is a friend.......he was a great kid......but it was when I saw so many of our now grown up pupils comforting each other as they walked in carrying red roses...Liverpool scarves......and photographs that I broke down......

I'm sure life isn't always easy for some of them still.......but today they were beautiful and caring young adults.....can't ask any more, can you?.....x

no gness...you can’t.
Agree with the previous postee - that's all you can ask for and thank goodness for that.
Our young don't get the credit they deserve. Good for them, Gness.
How wonderful of them, the good young people tend to be forgotten.
I believe that these days there are many more caring thoughtful and unprejudiced young people in the UK than older ones.
It's good to see a positive post about the younger generation. I have to say that almost all of the young people I have come across, in my life and work, have been fabulous people.
I work with a bunch of 23/24/25 year olds. Their work ethic is amazing and they're all very polite and friendly.
Great post Gness, he obviously touched many lives & will be remembered with love.
It does make you think twice about the young. Most of them are okay.
I agree with Ummm I don't think they do get the credit they deserve some people are just too quick to slate them but not to give them credit. Hope you are ok now.
The young are our future, they have a difficult task to rise above the criticism we read a lot about.

I feel they do us proud in the main.

Thank you for all your comments.....

I'm okay, Islay....just so tearful which is unlike me.......this is the second son my friends have lost....and to watch them so broken was too much.......
You sort of want to make the clock go back, don't you.....to change things for them and it's so bloody frustrating that you can't.....

Mixed emotions.......sadness at the loss of A and then being so touched by the kindness and love shown by his friends....x
A sad day indeed then, gness.

I've had a first year apprentice in tow for the last couple of days, I've been pleasantly surprised by him ( compared to some apprentices I've had in tow in the past ) he's pleasant, polite, and keen to learn
doesn't make a bad cup of tea either
