Do any of you have these in your area? I am sure they used to be about but they seem to have disappeared in my area.

Just wondering what the most efficient way to get post menopausal advice is?

A nurse practitioner seems a better route than cluttering up a GPs daily appointment load.

If your GP Surgery has a website, check if they have one within the practice itself.

I have, they don't, but did.

Just wondering if it's a national change or a local one.
No idea.

It brings to mind a time in Jeddah Saudia Arabia where i was asked what a "Well Woman's Clinic was."

The Arab women argued that if you were well, then why did you need a "clinic.?"...........I struggled with an answer.

The then went on to ask, if you weren't well...then you needed a doctor.
Again difficult to reply to.
Not difficult at all.

I agree it is tautologically challenging!!! However, I'm wondering if I should be considering preventative measures given my youthfulness :-)
Squad, should a woman over 70 have a smear test?
Our local hospital has one.
I always feel a bit weird in the waiting room [I'm menopausal age] and the waiting room is usually full of expectant mums!
Yes it's a strange set of words.

I think you're right Eccles, they didn't seem to take off as a concept, am sure as you say a Nurse or similar will be helpful though.

However if you need advice it's never a waste of the GP's time.
Some hospitals have them and you do not need a GP referral, might be worth a call to your local.
Good to know Ubasses.
netty......up to you.
If you have had negative Paps and if you reach the age of 70 and were my wife..........I would not bother.

Will look at what the local hospitals offer. I'm wondering if I should be concerned about osteoporosis and anything else I haven't taken account of. I'm only mid forties and haven't had a period for three years, just not sure what I should be doing......apart from the current nothing.
Thanks squad, relief!
Eccles...^^

Plenty of exercise...swimming etc.
Stop smoking,
Routine mammograms...... Controversial by some doctors.
Yearly BP checks......lipid profile (blood test)
Flu vaccination.
1,000 mg of calcium per day for postmenopausal women younger than 65 years who take estrogen, and 1,500 mg per day for those who do not take estrogen.16

Can't think of any thing else.
Do as much as you can of what you enjoy. Do as little as you can of what you don’t enjoy. Laugh at least once a day. Take no *** from anybody.
