I seem to be starting with hammer toes on left foot and am trying to find shoes to fit ( deep toe box needed, I think ) so that maybe the problem will not get any worse...does anyone know of shoes that may fit the bill..lightweight for summer would be good just now.

In that case, take a look at Birkies and Crocs. You will need to wear the crocs with the heelstrap on your heel so as to hold the shoe on your foot without the toes wanting to claw. I am not a podiatrist....this is what my podiatrist told me....

do you want style or comfort? I need a deep toe box because I have got short thick feet and always have had. I live mostly in Crocs and Birkies but they style of those brands is somewhat “unique” and they may not be to your taste. What has your doc/podiatrist said about your foot?
Hotter shoes often advertise that they have a deep toe box and they do a lovely range of well made comfortable shoes

Thanks Wolfgang, know what you mean about style....podiatrist says if I can manage now do so, but maybe surgery in the end...just trying anything not to make them worse, hence shoe search.

jamesnan, I am fed up with Hotter. They used to do lovely shoes for people such as myself but no longer...

Have a look at cosy feet, there shoes are aimed at people with foot problems.
You can't start with hammer toes, you are born with them, so it must be something else could it be arthritis ?
