Toyota Yaris

It's 12 years old. When I put the lights on, the dashboard goes so dim, I can't see whether they are on or not. Has anyone any idea what's wrong please. I don't really want a big bill from the local Toyota garage if its fixable.

have you not got a dash board dimmer on that car some models do so it dims the light at night, you may have caught it some how if you have
