So does that end the minimum wage scheme? I suppose it does.

Also, people on benefits, will their benefits be adjusted to absorb that extra income for those currently on a wage less than £7.20? or will they actually be better off?

Morning Ratter !

Osborne never made any of this clear when he announced this so-called "Living Wage" was announced. Another anomaly is why this new rate doesn't apply to people aged 24 and under ?

Perhaps one of the manyTory fans here on AB can explain !
The minimum wage scheme remains in place for the under 25's and those on apprenticeships. Just as we had begun to slight awareness of ageism in the workplace and along this comes to put us back a decade.

ratter - i don't quite understand your second question about people on benefits, but as far as I see it they are unaffected.

Ooops apologies, I see info further down although the campaign for higher Living Wage is the purpose of the site.
