Hi I have just won 400.00 on ladbrokes bingo. Lucky me. I asked for it to be paid Into my account through pay pal. I have waited three days and today I have had an Email asking for passport details bank Details proof of address ect. Is this normal I don't like giving my mobile number these days With all the data hackers out there Any advice please chris

I have a ladbrokes account and any winnings are left on the account. When I want to withdraw them I always choose the debit card option. I don't remember being aksed for ID when I set the facility up, but have definitely not been asked for ID with either a win or a withdrawal. In fact I have neve had an eamil about teh winnings, onky emails I receive are promotional ones.

The advice about being cautious is of course good, but if the email was clearly addressed to you by name and was in response to your withdrawal request then I think the request is likely to be genuine. But you can contact Ladbrokes via your online account secure message to check. I am sure I had to do the same to withdraw

If you were to copy the email header for AB techies to analyze, remember to 'munge' (redact/scramble/anonymise) -your- email address as this is a public forum.
email headers reveal a list of servers the message has passed through. These can be spoofed, true, but other Ladbrokes users should be able to recognise any wrong-sounding servers in the transmission route.
If in doubt about any suspect email, visit the main company website (https:// and no typing errors and not using a link planted in an email) and ring the contact number shown to make enquiries.
Phishing emails depend on an authentic-looking phoney website, featuring a phone number that is capable of being mistaken for the real thing by the absent-minded.
The fact that they prey on the trusting and those with fading faculties is why I hate them so much.

Despite all the above, I'd be extremely cautious. The information asked for seems way over the top for such a small payout. How is anyone going to be involved in money laundering with £400? Definitely find something you are absolutely certain is a genuine Ladbroke's phone number & quiz them about the reasons they want this before you comply.
