I'm 20 or so miles from the airport and the wind is dreadful,we also have hail storms at the moment.

but lots of other same type of aircraft (737s) are landing ok ? got to be a pilot crapping himself, passengers also, should have landed at 12.55

Quite frightening for all on board. Some of the flights have also been cancelled at Heathrow because of strong head winds.

Is there a memorial at Manchester Airport to the victims of the crash there in the 60s?
I ask because I remember such a memorial near an airport in northern Spain. It certainly makes you think.

Aircrew are allowed two attempts at an airport without diverting elsewhere, they will always have a couple of hours of fuel on board when they land

It's good to hear they landed safely.
Mamya, I think memorials like that are a reminder that getting a plane isn't the same as jumping on a bus. Sometimes things can go very badly wrong.

Yeah and if you er get diverted somewhere like harare ( zim) you have to have enough fuel to fly out - 'cos they dont have any...
