Why do people get so upset about the things she comes out with. As far as I'm concerned she only says what the majority of people think but dare not say and yes, in the vast majority of cases it is the fault of overweight people that they are fat because they eat too much.

I'm quite impressed about this experiment for once.

I must disagree though. I don't think she says what other people think. She says things for self publicity.
I've no idea who this person is, but looking through the link I think this is someone who is so desperate for 'fame' that she's been willing to endanger her health.
Calories in > calories expended = weight gain. No brainer.
Assigning 'fault', 'blame' etc is about as helpful as blaming the homeless for not having houses.
Gimme air.
She often says things that others wouldn't. She's controversial - that's how she earns her living.
She's an attention seeking harpie with little if anything meaningful to contribute to humanity, including this. She most certainly doesn't represent what I ' really think'.
I'm interested to see how easy she'll find it to lose the weight.
I admit I was stunned to read that she's done this to prove a point and if that is her only reason then in some ways I admire her. I think she may change her mind when she finds out how difficult it is to get the weight off again. It's not something I'd be willing to do for fame or money.
Prudie, if she has to starve herself, she’ll get the weight off – just to prove her point!
Even if she does that it won't be easy.
\\\\\she told an obese woman on This Morning that she wouldn't employ her because fat people give off the impression that they are lazy.\\\

Quite true.....or people with tattoos or rings in their nose.

Mosaic above is correct.....very few fat people were released from Auschwitz.
In my opinion, unless she has put on weight naturally and over a period of time then I predict that she will easily lose the excess weight and only prove the point that it's much easier to reach a weight we've been for many years than it is to lose pounds that have been with us for years.
we all know the nuts and bolts of eating too much of the wrong type of food causes weight gain, however a lot of weight problems are often a symptom of some more deeper emotional issues. Quite often its not a case of greed, I am sure she will shed the weight as easily as she gained it, but it doesnt really answer the question of why a person would remain obese for a number of years. That is a deeper issue.
It's about far more than how much you eat. Based on the rest of my family I have on many occasions ate more than two or even three people's share of food without ever reaching even close to the size of two or three people. For some reason it never stays on. Others aren't so lucky.
How active are you Jim? Some people move about much more than they think.

My sister and niece are obese (my niece is getting bigger and bigger) but it's pure greed and crap food.
jim....agreed.

You are citing the situation of eating aggressively and not putting on weight. That is rarely the problem.
The problem that we are faced with is the fat person losing weight.

Cazz1975 seems to be on the right lines.
Really not very active at all. I walk a bit and two years ago took up cycling but that's pretty much it. And this is chronic overeating we're talking about here although I am trying to cut down nowadays.
What on earth has it to do with her if people are fat or thin? She's too self opinionated by half and that's only what I've occasionally read about her. I certainly wouldn't want to listen to her spouting off on any subject.

Some people who are overweight have medical problems, not able to be very mobile, let alone exercise.

Anyway, I hope she does lose the weight she's put on, but then I can just imagine what she'll have to say: look at me, I've done it so there's no excuse for anyone to be overweight.
Some people get some inflated ideas...
She's a rude,opinionated and ignorant woman.
True, there are those who simply eat too much. But there are so many other reasons for weight gain...but also for the difficulty in losing it. The whole western world is in the grips of an obesity epidemic... And third world countries are catching up.mostly due to the kind of food we eat. And this can be traced back to when we started eating more processed rubbish and less traditional foods (whichever culture we may come from). So much processed stuff is unsatisfying...leaving a person quite literally starving for more,as they are so lacking in nutrients.
Blaming those who are overweight just makes the rest of us look smug and self superior. Its more complex than that. Sometimes I'm shocked at how rude and judgemental people can be about the obese. Rant over...;-)
And no...I'm not overweight myself.
1. She may well echo your views dave50, but she certainly does NOT say what I think.

2. I don't get upset with the things she comes out with - she's not worth the steam off my ***.
I think Robert De Nero deliberately put on a lot of weight for his role in Raging Bull, though he did manage to lose it later. The things some people do for their art.
