I may sound thick, but I don't know why we have two mayors of London - there's old Ken who seems to have been mayor for ages, and then there's always another mayor who gets all donned up for the lord mayor's parade. Can anyone appease my curiosity (I am from UP NORTH so please humour me.) Thanks.

Because there are 2 Londons

Ken is the mayor of Greater London. The Lord Mayor is the ceremonial mayor of the City of London (1 square mile).
