I despair

How did friends, relatives, anyone not see what had been going on?

How could the mother do nothing?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-107589 1/Cannabis-abuser-snapped-16-month-old-daughte rs-two.html

Poor child.

That is just so awful, I wish I hadn't read it.
As you say Ethel how can these things go on? It beggars belief. It's worrying to think that the same type of abuse is probably going on somewhere else as I type.

Dont worry, your local council and Police will undoubtedly be prosecuting some average Mr/Ms Joe for leaving their bin out early or dropping an apple core.

Sarcastic maybe but i use it to highlight the problem we have where it is far easier to use one of the mind boggling high number of regulations from Noo labour to get your numbrs up for noo Labour targets than spend time and effort looking for cases like this.

It si, I am afraid a damning indictment of Broken Britain. Thank you Tony and Bottler for your heritage to us.

I don't know if the fact he is a cannabis user is relevant, or if that is simply journalistic sensationalism.

"family members said she screamed in pain when picked up."

Anyone who has ever been in the same room as this child should be locked up. Those who do nothing are as bad as the abuser in my book.

I was just going to voice your same opinion there ethel. The man sounds like a monster and i winced when i read the story but did he need to be a cannabis smoker for them to get their point accross?
I am not a fan of the daily mail i think they write sensationalist garbage a lot of the time!

that story would be no less horific if it was just "man broke a babies back!"

Not much coverage in the press, but this in the Sun:

He said he had taken her downstairs, smoked some cannabis while cradling her until they both fell asleep. He woke up the next morning and realised there was something wrong.

Express reported it as 'Baby had her back snapped by father'with no mention of cannabis and the story was still pretty horrific, bless that poor little mite. What has that callous bitch got to smirk about, please please someone wipe that grin off her face permanently. If grandad thought the baby needed a doctor and he knew she hadn't seen one why didn't he take her to see one himself ???Everyone blames everyone else and as stated in an earlier answer, yes! everyone who had been in the company of that child and took no action should be prosecuted

That has to be one of the most disturbing things I have ever read, makes my blood boil over to think how anyone can even contemplate such violence towards anyone, especially a little perfect wee girl is just beyond me. ANIMALS the lot of them, and I also agree with the post before that said anyone who had EVER been in the same room as the wee mite should be hung drawn and quartered. ABSOLUTE SCUM

God, I feel sick to the core after reading that I really do.

Sorry roosi, have to disagree with you there. No animal would do this to their own, deliberatly injure their offspring. That trait alone, sadly, is a human one.

Yet another Dailymail hater, who does not like the full facts being reported. Perhaps you like a little puff on the weed yourself eh?

Sensationalist or not, if it stirs peoples feelings against these horrible happings, also the dangers of these illegal drugs so much the better.

Even if this person had been out of his mind on alcohol it should have been reported.

Lets wheel out the old Social Service's phrase:

"LESSONS HAVE BEEN LEARNED"

How many times have we heard that?

aol this piece of scum will try to use the fact he had a joint as an excuuse

Published: 11 Jun 2004

From NICK PARKER in Portugal
ENGLAND fans will be allowed to smoke dope before Sunday’s crunch clash with France ? to keep them calm.

Cops in Lisbon plan to crack down on drunk supporters while turning a blind eye to those spotted puffing on a spliff.

Pot-smoking fans have been assured they will not be arrested, cautioned ? or even have their drugs confiscated.

Last night experts said the Portuguese police’s “Here We Blow” policy would reduce chances of a punch-up between rival fans.

Alan Buffry of the Legalise Cannabis Alliance said: “If people are drinking they lose control, if they smoke cannabis they don’t.

“Alcohol makes fans fight. But cannabis smokers will be shaking hands and singing along together.”

Dutch police used a similar policy in Euro 2000 and England’s hooligan element were too stoned to fight.

A Lisbon police spokeswoman said: “If people cause a problem through drugs and become a menace then police will take action. But when this doesn’t happen why should the police be the ones making the fuss?”

More than 600 officers will be on duty for England’s opening group game at Lisbon’s Stadium of Light.

Fans who seem to be drunk may be breath-tested and refused entry.

anotheoldgit my personal preference stimulant is alcohol and as i cannot stomach smoking i have never really tried cannabis- as in my mates gave it to me once i took one puff i coughed it up and that was that.
My point is while it may be true that he is a cannabis smoker it might very well be irrelavant! im fully aware that in some people in can meddle with the mind and create a mental instabiltity in the remaing 1.95 million people who reportedly regularly use it its not that dangerous. So it could have been "painter and decorator scum kills baby" or "Smoker scum kills baby" and then would we jump on the all painter and decorators and smokers are scum?
I suppose i am quite liberal when it comes to drugs - I have drunk alochol to the point that i cant remember how i got home. Not something i'm proud of but its happened anddont feel i can then wave my finger at someone who comes home from work and smokes a joint to relax. I dont think I hold the moral high ground there?

Also Mr Thegit if we're talking full facts why didn't they report
his height weight what he does for a living (if anything)
what he had for dinner the night before?

that would be the full facts!

...... Whats that i hear you squeal? they're all not relevant to the case?

My point exactly you don't know that a drug which is prescribed to people as a painkiller and relaxant was to blame in this case neither do I!
But for the Daily mail to Ram it down our throats in the headline smacks of sensationalism and is trying to stir a hornets nest against (possibly) the wrong target!
I'm surprised the hedline wasn't

cannabis-smoking-hoodie wearing-argos -jewellery wearing-scum breaks a babies back.

its lets just stir up every possible kind of hatred we can kind of reporting that i dont like about the Daily Mail

This is a truly awful story - that poor little mite. She even looks sad in her photo, surely someone in the family must have noticed. Like I have said before - I hope he gets put in jail without having special protection and then perhaps he will know what pain is. And I hope the mother gets the same treatment - she wouldn't be smirking then! And I don't think cannabis has anything to do with it - the man is pure evil.
