RIP Paul

I know he's just an actor but the private kind like him are all but gone.
Those who just acted and never made a big deal out of it like the world couldn't do without them.
Kept his private life to himself and stuff. The old style actor is fast becoming a thing of the past so..... RIP Paul.

I heard this on the news this evening, on my way out to join friends for a meal... I had to pull in to stop the car and find a tissue cos my eyes were leaking... he was one of my all time heroes in the film industry... a lovely actor and a fine man by all accounts.

Another classic line from another of his films - "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" - where Sundance does not want to jump off a cliff into a river because he can't swim. Butch laughs and tells him not to worry because "the fall will probably kill you."

agreed, Berti. I also loved his 2000-Island dressing - more islands than any other brand! Stayed married to one woman for 50 years, worked for charity, fought in the war, had a sense of humour, racing driver, very good actor, and was number 13 on Richard Nixon's list of enemies. What a man.

I remember him from films my sisters loved to watch. I read up on him and found a nice guy who stayed faithful to his wife, made his point and stuck to them, unlike certain other Hollywood actors, points in the direction of Charlton Heston.
He was generally and all round good bloke.
