Minder Series remake

I note , it was reported recently that there is to be a remake - starring Shane Ritchie - of that classic comedy drama ' minder '

Does anyone agree with me that there are some series , where the original actors/ actress , are so synonomous , and been so brilliant , playing the characters ; that you cannot imagine anyone else being as good ?

For example , can you imagine anyone else playing the parts of the following :-

1. George Cole and Dennis Waterman - Playing the parts of Arthur Daly and Terry McCann , in Minder

2. Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie - playing the parts of Jeeves & Bertie Wooster , in Jeeves & Wooster

3. John Cleese - Mr Fawlty ,in Fawlty Towers

4. David Jason - Del boy , in only fools and horses

Some things are just too sacred .

Sounds like a recipe for disaster. I can't imagine a remake will be anywhere as good as the original, so why not just make a new programme altogether.

I couldn't agree more ,with the following quote from your link

' A source told The Sun: "Minder was a huge hit. Nothing's really managed to capture that spirit since it was axed'

Del Boy was originally meant to be played By Jim Broadbent.

That just doesn't work for me.

That's not so much a remake as a sequel btw - Shane Ritchie will be playing Arthur's nephew. And don't forget, Dennis Waterman was himself replaced for a few series.

Shane ******* Richie? Are you having a bubble or what?!

I used to be allowed to stay up late to watch Minder. This sacriledge is ruiniing my childhood memories... There must be some form of human right act surely?!

'Ello, 'ello,

Sweetie, I resent the invitation after the last time you mentioned it. Have you even looked in Sport? Jeesh... You have got to meet me half way on this love! You'll have two in there by now from me.

Yeah, Waterman was replaced and no, it wasn't the same at all.

Or in music:-

Sinatra doing "My Way",
Don Mclean and "American Pie".
Shane and Kirsty with "Fairytale of New York".

Fry And Laurie I'd have to disagree with. Many moons ago there was a series about Jeeves and Bertie played respectively by Dennis Price and Ian Carmichael and I'm afraid that anything that came after was a pale shadow of those performances.

I hate it when the Americans take brilliant British films and remake them because they think they can do better, and always fail. (Pink Panther, The Ladykillers), they are even going to do a remake of the Life on Mars series, can you imagine what a b@lls up that will be?

If you look in the top right hand corner your should have a thing saying log on or in your case, probably 'register.'They put the PM's in there yonks a go and just left them. You register and login with your details from normal AB and you should be able to see it.
