Unfair exchange or what?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/arti cle-1035550/Heros-welcome-Lebanon-man-murdered -Israeli-girl-4-released-prisoner-swap-deal.ht ml

Should this murderer have been traded alive, along with four more Lebanese, for the bodies of two Israeli soldiers?

Shall we have a look at the scorecard as to how many children have been killed on each side then?

You missed putting in the words Brave and Heroic to discribe the Israelii soldiers.

You get more like Lord Haw Haw each day you know!

Somehow I cannot recall hearing of any Israelis smashing a four year old child's head with a rifle butt. Or deliberately targeting children or civilians. I think we are considering two different types of people here. Israel has developed a modern, civilised, democratic country and want peace; while those around them have developed hate and want war.

AOG, you should know by now that lefties love Islam and hate Iraeel. They can always find a statistic and spin it to make Israel look bad.

It looks like a major own goal allowing the nutters to claim "victory" here. I guess they thought it through though so the benefit to Israel must be there, if a little obscure.

If the UK had been one of the parties to the exchange , then we would have a reason to be concerned at the terms. As it is, both parties thought they were getting a deal they wanted and offering in exchange something they could give up - that's what exchanges are all about. As to the rights and wrongs of the dispute and what can be done in the future, I increasingly despair. There is no absolute right or wrong on either side and it is up to each person involved to examine their own conscience as to how best to proceed.

I do find the positions taken by some people on this site to be a bit contradictory, however. We have a number of correspondents who object to unregulated incursions of foreigners, taking over large portions of our cities, changing our cultural balance and potentially even changing the very nature of our legal and democratic framework - welcome to the world of post WWII Palestine!

What was given in exchange by the Israelis is irrevelevant to them. It fought a bloody war for them, which didn't go too well and which caused a lot of political recrimination in the country. It got its two soldiers back and has drawn a line under the sorry episode.

They'll be better prepared next time though.

Raleigh, did you read those statistics?

Palestinian minors killed by Israeli security forces - 951
Israeli minors killed by Palestinians - 123.

And the peaceloving, modern, civilised society is....

Although the end result is unhappily the same, there is a rather a big difference between DELIBERATE murder of children and other civilians and those killed as a result of terrorists using them as cover to attack from behind.
