yeah id like to know...this is wierd huh? im not a scientist...but i cant imagine how some kind of liquid would cause a crazy explosion like that....having said that...everyone knows house hold stuff can make some mad things...like gas and explosions...
the story doesnt seem to make sense though...the 17 year old rings the police to complain about two other teenage girls outside. It doesnt say why...but more to the point...it sounds a bit unlikley two teenage girls would know how to make some kind of explosive liquid...having said that...were living in an age where teenages are building bombs to blow us up...so who knows?

Potassium permanganate turns purple, and i think if it's mixed with glycerine it becomes explosive?

I thought methylated spirits when I first read the report yesterday, its flammable but not explosive as far as I know.

I think when the real reason is discovered it will be a fractured main running under the properties. To suggest its some dirty bomb defies all comprehension.

Must be more to the story, how did they how the liquid was poured through the letterbox hours earlier? Did someone see it and not report it?

Why are you assuming the liquid was part of the explosion? The two may be unrelated.
